Some people...

I helped out today in a restaurant waitressing. I do that now and than for the people that gave me my first job at age 16. Dealing with the public is a challenge. I think everyone should try a job in the service industry at least one time in their lives. Some people just don't get it. I am a real person with a real life and real feelings!! One table of 4 customers had a birthday girl with them. The gentleman wanted me to sing happy Birthday to her. I said we don't do that here in this place. He insisted I do it and he would pay me $5.00. I still said no (i do not sing.) Well, he did not like that and started saying what kind of place is this and he should never have come here. Meanwhile the B-Day girl was embarrassed and she was saying no to the whole song thing and she was so sorry. He eventually calmed down but as they were leaving he got one more dig in and announced very loudly that he will not come here again due to the staff not singing and he should have gone to another place. I really wanted to pick up a fork and jam it into his hand. Really. That is all you have to bitch about. No bad food, no bad service. Never coming back due to not singing freaking happy birthday. No sweat off my back. Hey, at least he did not pay. The person that did must have felt bad for me because I got a nice tip.

Challenge: Get husband to go clothes shopping.

My brother is getting married here in a couple of weeks. I have been telling my husband since the first of the year that he needs new dress clothes for the wedding. Knowing this was going to be a challenge for me I started early with the little innuendos. The thought/action was planted in his head almost weekly. I attempted several trips with him to the stores but it always ended with him throwing a hissy fit (grown man version). I put my thinking hat on to try a different approach. Maybe a compromise?? So i offered if he got nice new dress pants and a great shirt he would not have to wear a tie. Now mind you my husband is a sweatshirt, jeans and baseball cap kind of guy. He hates to dress up let alone wear a tie. God forbid he might look good. Ha!
Well crunch time was happening here. We were getting down to 2 weeks till wedding. I told him we were going shopping on Sunday. He started with little excuses making up crap he had to do. I said no. It needs to be done. We are not leaving the store with out some new clothes. It did not look like we were leaving the house either. Deja Vu was happening all over again. We are going on 12 years of marriage and believe me this little dance we were doing was not the first time. Than the light bulb went off in my head. Ice cream!! He loves ice cream. He was acting like a kid so I will treat him like a kid.
In the end I got my way and he got his ice cream. He is going to look so handsome in his new clothes. (I just need to remember to use the ice cream thing a little sooner but to not overuse it. He may catch on.)
